The Flying Ace Cycling Club of Berbice will take to the streets of New Amsterdam today, for its annual 8-lap cycle road race, held as part of the New Amsterdam Town Day celebrations. The race will pedal off from Esplanade Park at 1:00 p.m. and is open exclusively to cyclists from Regions Five and Six.
The event’s route will see competitors starting from Esplanade Park before navigating through Vryheid Street, Main Street, Stanleytown, around Tacama Turn, into Republic Road, and back to Vryheid Street, completing eight laps around the circuit before finishing at Republic Road and Charles Place. The Mayor of New Amsterdam will officially send the riders on their way, following a ceremonial free-lap ride alongside participants to kick off the festivities.
